There are a large number of care and nursing homes which offer 24/7 hour care throughout the country. Some are owned by large companies and others by individual owners. You will find that each home will have their own specialism, ‘atmosphere’, and approach to providing care as well as catering for people from different backgrounds. In our experience it can be a challenging and complex task to choose the right home for yourself, with many important considerations and decisions to be made along the way.

Residential and nursing homes break down into four main types of care homes; residential homes, nursing homes for people with physical nursing needs, specialist residential homes for people with dementia and nursing homes for people who suffer from advance stages of dementia and other mental illnesses. The ISWP can give you expert advice to find the most appropriate home for you.

We believe that it is important that your wishes, as well as your needs, are recognised and provided for in the home of your choice. We will assist you to develop a Personal Support Plan with the Manager of the home which you choose, to ensure that your wishes and needs are provided for.

We offer a follow up, reviewing and evaluation service. We will be able to represent you at regular meetings with the management of the home to ensure that your Personal Care Plan is being followed and that all your wishes and needs are being met.

We are also able to provide you with a regular visitor – somebody who would be able to take you out regularly – whether it is a trip to your own hairdresser, to the shops or out for lunch – whatever you would like to do.

We will be able to advise you on NHS Continuing Health Care (CHC) funding and other funding opportunities for residential and nursing home placements.
